♘♔ Kadayawan Day: The Bone Museum and Museo de Davao

yesterday, we also went to two museums here in Davao. One is the Bone Museum wherein they feature of course, bones of different animals (dead, of course). They claim that all the bones there are real and some of the animals are from Davao City only. Entrance fee is 50 php inclusive of tour guide. Pictures are also allowed :D They are open until 5 in the afternoon (i don't know what time they open at morning). They are still under renovation because they will put all the land animals on the second floor and the third floor will be all marine animals :) They are expanding and I like it. Enzo and I promised ourselves that we will be back there again (when they are finished :D)

We also went to Davao Museum featuring the different tribes of Davao, the local history since Spanish era up to now, and old and new pictures of places in Davao City. Taking of pictures inside the Museum is prohibited that's why we only had a shot outside. There's no entrance fee in Davao Museum and it is opened from 9 am to 6 pm.

and the picture below shows the different bones of animals. Some of these animals were already dead before they displayed the bones. What i mean is, these animals were not intentionally killed just to display their bones. What's really heartbreaking here is the cause of death of some marine animals. Some of them died because of the garbage we throw at the sea. They don't think like humans and will not distinguish a garbage as a garbage. so please, STOP THROWING YOUR TRASH IN THE SEA! even a simple CANDY WRAPPER can cause the DEATH of a sea creature :( and most of these creatures are already considered endangered. If these animals go extinct, we have no one to blame but ourselves because we disrupted the natural balance of the ecosystem :(

in this picture: sea shells, a cast of the [i forgot the name, it's from the family of armadillos], a Philippine tarsier from Davao (yes! from Davao. the tour guid said that there are wild tarsiers that live here in Davao but they are being "pushed away" by Housing projects that cut down trees and cement the pathways) and bones of dolphins :)

my best friend loves marine animals and he particularly loves sharks (so yes, imagine his satisfaction here). and by the way, a number of sharks are killed every year because of "Finning". This is a very brutal way of killing sharks. Anyway, finning is done usually in China and Japan for their "Shark Fin Soup". The sharks are caught and they cut off their fin and leave the sharks to die in the sea. Cruel, right? They thought that the sharks will still live after they take their fins. But that is wrong. Sharks will drown if they don't swim and they need their fins to swim (duh!) so without their fins, they will just sink at the bottom of the ocean and die :( it is a very cruel thing. I hope that the government of the countries practicing this would regulate this type of shark hunting to allow the sharks to multiply. If this abuse continues, time will come that there would be no sharks left :( and sharks are at the top of the food chain system. When they are gone, there would be a big imbalance in the food chain which will result to no good :(

and trivia: more people are killed by falling coconuts than by shark attacks. fear the coconuts! fear!! XD

sorry about the blurry text but this is the story of two whales whose bones are displayed in the museum. One is named "Alcoholic", a False Killer Whale. When they opened the stomach, they saw a part of a rubbing alcohol inside it. it was undigested because duh, their digestive system was not designed to digest that. It caused its death :(
Another one is "Orbit", a Pygmy Sperm Whale. Cause of death? swallowing an orbit bottle (the one on the picture) thinking it was a squid :(
see? carelessness of people lead to death of innocent animals :(

i really, really love this picture! hahaha..this shot was taken by the tour guide. haha. what a good way to play with angles (Enzo couldn't take this picture. hahaha. XD)

our tour guide is very, very young :D could still improve pronunciation and delivery though :) [just a constructive comment :D]
