so recently, i've been having my
on-the-job-training (we commonly call it OJT) where we practice what we have learned in school into industries. this quite excites me because unlike medical courses in which they have fixed OJT places (duh, hospitals), our profession is really very wide. i mean, Chemical Engineering can tap into
almost anything --petroleum, steel, oils, carbons, water, food, etc. name it, as long as it is industrially produced, we can be in it. haha :))
so yeah, i've been having an awesome time at Philippine-Japan Active Carbon Corporation (PJAC). it is a company owned by Japanese bosses and i was amazed at how they run things there. i mean, not just the machines (of course,i'll be amazed at the machines) but also with the management. and the people there (our supervisor, Engr. Jeffer and the Production Department Heads) are really, very kind and accommodating--they readily answer our questions about everything, about all the equipments there and all about activating a carbon). of course, since it is carbon, we are expected to be really
dirty hahaha. i mean it, we are in a plant that is processing charcoal so yun. haha uling and stuff. but whatever, i'm not that maarte (i mean come on! at TRIMMOC training, we were trained to roll in the mud and all). haha. plus, sometimes, the supervisors give us free food! hahahaha. have yet to share my experiences here, sometime soon :D
what's also interesting in PJAC is the way they assess their OJT babies. they don't just abandon us but they really see to it that each day, we learned something and there are follow up sessions about our learnings for today.
i also like sir Jeffer's talks about setting our goals in life for us to be motivated. he's a visionary and he wants people to visualize and plan something in the future so that we would have a goal in mind. in this way, our minds will focus on finding ways how to get that goal and it would motivate us and fuel our drive for success and excellence.
so again, i will share my goals in life ^_^ i know it is something personal but whatever. he said that people will bring you down (so true!) and they will tell you that you are too ambitious and that you will not make it, that you cannot achieve it.
but don't let them!. don't let other people tell you that you can't because you can. he also said that we must only share this to a few people because yes, other people will laugh at our dreams. but since i know that only a few people reads this blog, i am going to share these to youu :))
these are my goals (i'm just goint to share 4 of them):
of course, it is given that i shall graduate and get my license as a chemical engineer and work. but these will fuel me to become an engineer and succeed in life.
4. Climbing, Adventures
as you can see, i have been a part of a mountaineering club in school (membership forever! :D) and in our two climbs, the only things that i can call mine are my clothes and the kaldero and sauce pan. the shoes and bags are borrowed and i don't have a tent or a burner. these things are essential if you want to climb mountains. i want to have my own but of course, i can't afford them. do you know how much these costs? bag alone costs more than a thousand peso and that's just cheap ones. those that are durable and are of top quality are really very pricy. so everytime i go into a Merell (not sure of spelling)/North Face/ Columbia Stores or other outdoor stores and see those heart-fainting prices, i repeatedly tell myself
"saka na, pag engineer na ako, i can afford all of these" because yes, i want to climb and experience different types of adventure with my top-quality things :))
3. Culinary Arts
one of my life long dreams--to become a chef. why do i want to be a chef in the first place? because i want my future family to taste yummy foods courtesy of me! haha. but i know this dream is just a luxurious dream because it really costs a lot to be a chef, so yeah, after i graduate and work, i will study culinary arts so that someday, i will be able to cook really, really well :)) i think i'm starting to invest in these because i know quite a few people who are really good cooks. hahaha. i'm inspired by sir Dong (Former Friday's Abreeza Kitchen Manager and a contributor to the recipes in Kitchenomiks) and Paeng (Enzo's bff, who is also a really good cook and a really good friend!) :) for now, they are the people i know but i am quite shy to approach and ask for lessons. hahaha. :))
2. My Parents
i have often told myself that when i grow up, i don't want my parents to go back into a poor life again. i want them to live in big houses, go on a cruises, travel the world and really rich and have those luxurious lifestyles--not because i think it's my payment for them giving me a really good education and for them being really, really
supportive but because i love them so much that i don't want to see them work again or suffer again or be problematic again. i just want to see them enjoying life and having to ear-to-ear-smiles in their faces even if they are old :))
1. My brother
it's like his future depends on me. hahaha. i don't know what his plans in life are but from what i've been observing, he's quite extravagant! hahaha. so i really have to prepare a lot to be able to give him a good education and a good life. his college depends on me and if ever he want to proceed to law or med or study in universities abroad, i won't have to super stress about it because i will have my savings. so yeah, my number one goal is to help my brother finish his studies--in whatever course he wants to take :))
these are my lifelong goals. they are not time-bounded because i got lazy thinking of when i would finish them. hahaha. anyway, i've got to end here :)) will blog more soon :D
